ASTM International’s environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee (E50) presented its 2025 Award of Merit to Dennis Hollatz, retired field services staff consultant with Federated Insurance.
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Hollatz was recognized for 35 years of expertise in field services and risk management, for his leadership of subcommittee E50.01 on tanks, and for building collaboration among ASTM committees E50, D34, and E34.
A member of ASTM International since 1994, Hollatz has been previously awarded by the committee with the Gwen Eklund Award of Excellence (2023), the Industry Leadership Distinguished Service Award (2016), and two Awards of Appreciation (2020). In addition to ASTM, he is a retired member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the National Fire Protection Association, as well as an emeritus professional of the American Society of Safety Professionals.
In 2022, Hollatz became president of the Steele County Astronomical Society. Prior to this position, he had an extensive career in risk management at Federated Insurance Company as a consultant. Prior to his time at Federated Insurance, he served in the U.S. Air Force and as a civilian employee with the U.S. Department of Defense.
