ASTM Compass®, the proprietary standards platform for ASTM International, has released the first iteration of its newest search function, ASTM Compass Discover (Beta), a new semantic search.
This new engine supplements the current ASTM Compass search engine. Compass Discover Beta will recognize misspellings, synonyms, and vague search terms, delivering relevant results to users faster.
“We’re thrilled to provide ASTM Compass customers with continued search innovation,” says Laura Derrico, platform product manager. “With this new experience, a search query like ‘baseball parks’ will include results for ‘baseball fields.’ The engine interprets users’ intent, meaning less precise searches will still yield more precise results, which helps ASTM Compass meet subscribers where they are when seeking standards and other technical content.”
ASTM Compass Discover Beta is now available with a Compass license. Users can access directly on their platform, complete with the option to provide feedback on search accuracy. Subscribers who are eager to support continual improvement at ASTM can test the beta and ASTM encourages comments to help make further improvements in future.
