ASTM International Committee E29 on Particle and Spray Characterization has elected Charles G. Hubbard, quality manager and engineer at Electro Abrasives LLC in Buffalo, N.Y., as chairman. Committee E29 oversees more than 15 standard practices and test methods for characterizing solid and liquid particles.

Hubbard also chairs the E29 subcommittees on Sieves, Sieving Methods and Screening Media and Long-Range Planning. He received the E29 Award of Appreciation in 2006 for his work on ASTM E2427, Standard Test Method for Acceptance by Performance Testing for Sieves. A member of ASTM International since 1997, Hubbard also works on Committees C08 on Refractories and C26 on Nuclear Fuel Cycle.

A graduate of the State University of New York, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Hubbard worked as a quality control manager at Stean Industries Hiross Corp. in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and at Applied Design in North Tonawanda, N.Y., before assuming his role at Electro Abrasives in 1992.

Outside ASTM International, Hubbard is a member of the American Society for Quality and the Unified Abrasives Manufacturers’ Association.
