ASTM International announced the graduate student winners of four $10,000 scholarships for their studies in fields where technical standards play a crucial role. This year’s winners were chosen from a competitive pool of applicants.
The following candidates will receive the 2025 ASTM International graduate scholarships:
- Amy Kurr, doctoral student of energy science and engineering at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Amy has been an ambassador of ASTM with current projects touching on committees D09 and E05. She has also been heavily involved in teaching consensus standards.
- Andrew Couch, doctoral student of management science and engineering at Stanford University. Andrew’s research has revolved around small-to-medium-sized enterprise additive manufacturing, using many ASTM standards to significantly boost his work.
- Mellissa Komninakis, doctoral student of materials science and engineering at Florida International University. Showing a strong interest in nuclear deactivation and decommissioning, Mellissa has fully immersed herself into her work for E10 as well as FIU’s ASTM student chapter.
- Pandora Picariello, doctoral student of materials scienceat Colorado School of Mines. Pandora is a renewal recipient who won the award last year, and continues her work related to ceramics in aerospace applications.
ASTM International has more than 5,000 student members at all levels of education who pay nothing for membership. The organization offers several scholarship and grant opportunities each year. Undergraduate and graduate student members receive a front-row seat to the standards development process, allowing them to network with technical experts and participate in standards discussion.
