ASTM Committee E37 on Thermal Measurements has appointed Lawrence Judovits, Ph.D., a senior research scientist for Arkema Inc. in King of Prussia, Pa., as its new chair. The committee has more than 100 members who are responsible for more than 50 standards that play an important role in testing various materials for thermal, rheological and thermophysical properties.
Judovits lives in Collegeville, Pa.
A 2003 ASTM Award of Merit winner and ASTM Fellow, Judovits has been an ASTM member since 1990. In his work for Committee E37, Judovits has led task groups focused on standardizing of thermal analysis procedures. He also has co-chaired two ASTM symposia and has organized ASTM workshops on thermal analysis of materials.
Outside ASTM International, Judovits is a fellow and member of the North American Thermal Analysis Society (NATAS), where he has been president and is currently a conference vice-chairman. He is also an associate editor for the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry and has written a number of papers published in journals and proceedings.
Judovits holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
