Chaudhary is First Indian National to Hold Chairmanship of an ASTM Subcommittee

Shreyaskar Chaudhary, CEO and managing director of Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd., in Madhya Pradesh, India, has been named chairman of ASTM International Subcommittee D13.40 on Sustainability of Textiles. 



D13.40 is a newly formed subcommittee that was formed after extensive discussion within ASTM International Committee D13 on Textiles, a committee that oversees more than 300 international standards related to the characteristics, properties, nomenclature and use of textiles that are published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Committee D13 has a diverse membership of approximately 600 participants from across the United States, Europe and Asia.



At Pratibha Syntex Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s leading fiber to garment textile manufacturers, Chaudhary leads a team in the implementation of sustainability initiatives in the textiles industry titled SEED initiatives. He is a key figure in the development of organic cotton and other sustainable textiles in India. Services at Pratibha Syntex include cotton fiber production, spinning, knitting, dyeing and finishing, and apparel manufacturing. 



Chaudhary is a former board member of the Organic Exchange and works with government agencies to promote sustainability in India. He has presented lectures on sustainable industrial practices at various meetings, symposia and workshops all over the world.
