ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has presented the George V. Dyroff Award of Honorary Committee D02 Membership to Janet Lane, a consultant based in Haddonfield, N.J.
 
Lane has filled several roles on Committee D02 since she joined ASTM International in 1989, including first and second vice chairman and secretary on the main committee, and chairman of various D02 subcommittees and task groups, including D02.06 on Analysis of Lubricants. She has made several important contributions to the development of ASTM petroleum standards during her tenure, and the committee has recognized her work with an Award of Appreciation and the Award of Excellence three times. Lane also served a term on the ASTM Committee on Standards (COS), for which she received a Service Award in 2009 and was COS chairman from 2010-2011.

A specialist in the testing and quality assurance of petroleum products and lubricants, Lane was an advanced research associate and program leader in the Analytical Science Laboratory at ExxonMobil Research and Engineering in Paulsboro, N.J., for 32 years. She retired from ExxonMobil in 2010 and started Janet L. Lane Consulting.

A graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Lane also holds a master’s in physical chemistry from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. In addition to ASTM International, she is a member of the American Chemical Society.
