The ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AMCOE) is hosting the Fourth ASTM Symposium on Structural Integrity of Additive Manufactured Materials and Parts, Oct. 7-10, 2019, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland (Washington DC area), USA.

This symposium will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding the structural integrity of materials and components fabricated using additive manufacturing (AM) with a focus on the lack of industry standards, design principles, as well as quality and certification criteria.

This is event is designed for professionals within the AM community including industrial, academic, government, and regulatory.

Paper topics for this symposium include, but are not limited to:

  • Feedstock and related effects on microstructure and mechanical behavior,
  • Effect of influencing factors (surface, geometry, post-processing, etc.),
  • Process optimization to improve the performance,
  • Microstructure-property predictive models,
  • Multiscale modeling of the mechanical behavior,
  • Applicability of existing test methods,
  • Effect of anomalies and acceptance criteria,
  • Special requirements for sector-specific standards, and more.

Sessions will be organized by sector-specific applications including:

  • Aviation,
  • Spaceflight,
  • Medical/Biological,
  • Transportation/Heavy Machinery,
  • Maritime,
  • Electronics,
  • Construction,
  • Oil/Gas, and
  • Consumer.

Registration is now open and closes on October 2, 2019. Technical questions can be directed to workshop co-chairs Nima Shamsaei (shamsaei@auburn.edu) and Mohsen Seifi (mseifi@astm.org). General inquiries about registration and participation can be directed to amcoe@astm.org.
