ASTM International, at the request of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), will host an organizational meeting Dec. 14, 2015, to explore ASTM standards development in human resource management. All interested parties are encouraged to attend the free meeting at ASTM’s global headquarters in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

The goal of the meeting is to chart a potential path toward a consensus standardization program for human resource management, which ASTM stands ready to accommodate. Consensus standards in this area have the potential to empower HR practitioners and their organizations to practice more effectively and consistently.

The Dec. 14 meeting will provide an overview of ASTM, background on the request for this activity, and potential areas for standards development. The objectives of the meeting are to:

• Bring industry experts together;
• Identify specific standards needs;
• Develop and approve title, scope, and structure of a committee; and

• Determine if and how ASTM should organize this activity.

The meeting will start at 9 a.m. EST and adjourn at approximately 4 p.m. Register here. Virtual participation is available upon request.

ASTM International’s neutral forum allows the private and public sectors to work together to develop a voluntary consensus standards program. ASTM provides a management system for the development of globally recognized standards and related information for materials, products, systems and services.

Producers, users, consumers, government and academia participate in ASTM’s 145 technical committees to ensure that all points of view are represented. These committees have produced more than 12,500 standards for more than 90 industries. ASTM welcomes participation in the development of its standards.
