Since 1995, ASTM International has funded nature programs and field trips for local elementary schools in conjunction with the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne.

Conshohocken Elementary
In the ASTM-supported after-school nature club at Conshohocken Elementary, Riverbend instructors come to the school on a weekly basis to teach a variety of interactive nature lessons. On May 19, the students learned about the water cycle and got to see a live demonstration with water-based animals. Some of the participating students are seen here with Carla Falco, Director of Marketing, ASTM International.

Bridgeport Elementary
And on May 23, ASTM International sponsored a field trip to Riverbend for first-grade students from Bridgeport Elementary. Activities included a pond and stream lesson with live animals, as well as stream and pond exploration, which coincided with the students’ current classroom science lessons. Lesley West, Director of Product Development, ASTM International, shows a corn snake to Bridgeport students at Riverbend.

ASTM International is one of the largest international standards development and delivery systems in the world. ASTM standards are accepted and used in research and development, product testing, quality systems and commercial transactions.
