Charles Blanton, corporate director of environmental, health and safety at Mueller Industries Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee, has been honored with the ASTM International Copper Club Award.
ASTM Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys presented the award to Blanton in honor of his exceptional contributions and years of dedicated leadership. He serves as the committee’s second vice chairman and chairs Subcommittee B05.04 on Pipe and Tube. A member of ASTM since 1999, Blanton received the B05 Arthur Cohen Memorial Distinguished Service Award in 2012.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned his master’s degree in inorganic chemistry, Blanton also holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Belmont Abby College. He began his professional career in 1991 at Halstead Industries in Wynne, Arkansas, where he served as technical services director. He joined Mueller Copper Tube Products as support process manager in 1998 and assumed his current role in 2009.
Outside ASTM, Blanton is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council.
