Conroy Lum, research leader at FPInnovations in Vancouver, British Columbia, has received the L.J. Markwardt Award from ASTM International Committee D07 on Wood.
The committee noted Lum’s extensive contributions to the development of standards for the engineering use of wood and wood-based materials in building construction. A member of ASTM since 1989, Lum works on several D07 subcommittees and is also a member of Committee D14 on Adhesives.
A registered professional engineer in British Columbia, Lum joined FPInnovations (formerly Forintek Canada Corp.) in 1986. He specializes in the research and development of codes and standards related to wood as a structural building material, lumber products and sampling, and structural adhesives.
Outside ASTM, Lum is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Wood Council, the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and the Canadian Standards Association. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, where he received a master’s degree in civil engineering (structural and applied mechanics) and a bachelor’s in civil engineering.
