Eric Boes, corporate quality engineer at Delta Faucet Co. in Indianapolis, Ind., has received the Copper Club Award from ASTM International Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys. Boes was honored for his leadership of the main committee as well as numerous subcommittees and task groups and his contributions to the development of new standards and revisions of existing standards.
An ASTM fellow who received the Award of Merit in 2003, Boes has been chairman of Committee B05 since 2010. He works on several B05 subcommittees and was the founding chair of Subcommittee B05.94 on Strategic Planning, which helped to develop, approve and implement a strategic plan for B05, including the establishment of an ongoing workshop series and major revisions to committee bylaws.
In addition to his work with B05, Boes is a member at large on Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys and serves as chairman of Subcommittee B02.05 on Precious Metals and Electrical Contact Materials. He participates on a number of other ASTM committees as well, including A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys, where he is vice chairman of the Awards subcommittee (A01.93); B07 on Light Metals and Alloys; E01 on Analytical Chemistry for Metals, Ores and Related Materials; E11 on Quality and Statistics; E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobial and Alternative Control Agents; F17 on Plastic Piping Systems; and G01 on Corrosion of Metals. A member of ASTM International since 1991, Boes served a three-year term on the ASTM board of directors from 2008 to 2010.
Boes specializes in supplier quality assurance and product development, auditing, metallurgical engineering, and technical service and standards development. He holds the following ASQ certifications: quality engineer, quality auditor, quality improvement associate and manager of quality/organizational excellence. Prior to joining Delta Faucet Co. in 1998, Boes was a senior metallurgical engineer at Olin Brass Corp. in Indianapolis, Ind.
Outside ASTM International, Boes is a member of the American Foundry Society, the American Society for Quality, the American Welding Society and ASM International (the American Society for Metals).
