Ronald D. Graham, technical governance/quality manager at SGS North America Inc., Mineral Services Division, Charleston, W.Va., has received the Ted Linde Leadership Award from ASTM International Committee E01 on Analytical Chemistry for Metals, Ores and Related Materials.
Graham was honored for his service as chairman of Subcommittee E01.02 on Ores, Concentrates and Related Metallurgical Materials for the last 10 years. His leadership role has helped the subcommittee develop and maintain more than 30 international standard test methods and practices.
A member of ASTM International since 1977, Graham also works on Committee D05 on Coal and Coke in addition to E01, and is head of the U.S. delegation to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 183, Copper, Lead, Zinc and Nickel Ores and Concentrates. In addition, he has served terms on the ASTM Standing Committees on Technical Committee Operations and Certification Programs. Graham received the ASTM Award of Merit and its accompanying title of fellow from D05 in 1998 and the D05 R.A. Glenn Award in 1992.
Graham joined SGS North American in 1987 as assistant director, technical projects. He was promoted to regional director, Appalachian Operations, and director, quality management services, before assuming his current role in 2004. Prior to SGS, he was central laboratory manager at Amax Coal Co. in Evansville, Ind.
A graduate of Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio, where he received a master’s degree in chemistry, Graham also holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va.
