Carl Dekker, president of MET–L–FLO Inc. in Sugar Grove, Ill., has been elected chairman of ASTM International Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies.

Committee F42 includes more than 215 members who oversee ASTM standards development for all aspects of additive manufacturing technologies. Dekker joined ASTM International when the committee was formed in 2009, and is an active member who serves on all F42 subcommittees.

Dekker joined MET–L–FLO, a provider of additive manufacturing services, in 1991. He served as general manger before assuming the role of president in 1997. He has been actively involved in research and product development using current technologies and innovative methods, and has held positions in several organizations outside ASTM, including chairman of SME’s Rapid Technologies and Additive Manufacturing community (RTAM), vice chairman of the Rapid Prototyping Associations and secretary of the 3DS North American Stereolithography Users Group (currently the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG)).
