ASTM International Committee E36 on Accreditation and Certification has presented the Award of Merit to Woodward Vogt of Paradigm Consultants Inc. in Houston, Texas. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

Committee E36 honored Vogt for his dedication to improving the concrete and materials testing industry through his exceptional service. He has been a member of ASTM for more than 34 years and has served as E36 chairman since 2012. He also chairs the Subcommittee on Certification/Registration Bodies (E36.20). The committee recognized him with an Award of Appreciation in 2012. Vogt serves on the Committees on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, Soil and Rock, Performance of Buildings and Forensic Engineering in addition to E36.

Vogt is a geotechnical and construction materials engineer, founding Paradigm Consultants in 1995. A licensed professional engineer in Louisiana and Texas, he has served as a technical expert, consultant, chief investigator, senior consultant, project engineer and project manager for structures and pavements damaged by fire, explosions, atmospheric exposure, abuse and natural causes during his 46-year career. Prior to founding Paradigm, he was vice president at McBride-Ratcliff Associates Inc., and branch manager at Southwestern Laboratories Inc., both in Houston.

In addition to ASTM, Vogt is a fellow of the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers, and has been certified as diplomate in geotechnical engineering by the Academy of Geo-Professionals. He has served as chairman of the board of the American Association for Laboratory and is a director of the Geoprofessional Business Association. Vogt is also a member of the Construction Specifications Institute, International Concrete Repair Institute, International Code Council and National Society of Professional Engineers.

Vogt holds a master’s degree in structural engineering and soil mechanics and a bachelor’s in engineering mechanics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
