William Siwek, president and CEO of Veritas Sensors LLC, Edison, New Jersey, has received the ASTM International Award of Merit. The award, which includes the accompanying title of ASTM fellow, is the highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

A member of ASTM International since 1995, Siwek was honored for his exemplary service to Committee E20 on Temperature Measurement. An active E20 member, he has chaired Subcommittee E20.91 on Editorial and Terminology for 10 years, and has contributed to the development of several E20 standards, serving as primary author of standards related to thermistor sensors and liquid baths for temperature calibration that are used in multiple industries. Siwek, who is also active on Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, was recognized with the E20 Robert D. Thompson Memorial Award in 2004.

An engineer and sensor designer with more than 30 years of experience, Siwek founded Veritas Sensors LLC in 2005. Veritas is a full-service provider of temperature sensing products, specializing in the manufacture of glass encapsulated negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors. Prior to that he completed a 30-year tenure as an applications engineering manager at Thermometrics Inc., Edison, New Jersey.

Siwek holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Newark College of Engineering (now the New Jersey Institute of Technology), Newark, New Jersey.
