ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2025 Award of Merit – to Ronald Schornstein for his contributions to ASTM’s engine coolants and related fluids committee (D15).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Schornstein was recognized for his outstanding leadership as a subcommittee chair and his skillful guidance of the committee as it develops standards for evolving automotive technology.
An ASTM International member since 2005, Schornstein had been previously honored by the committee with the Raymond H. Rudisill Award (2023) and the Daniel H. Green Award (2019).
In addition to ASTM, Schornstein is also a member of SAE International and the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC). For over 20 years, he was part of the Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association (AMRA) and the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP).
Schornstein serves as president of ACUSTRIP Company, Inc., a position he’s held since 1979. He works as a certified consultant in supply chain, project management, and finance, bringing his expertise in fluid diagnostics to the development of standards for exhaust fluids, coolants, and more.
Schornstein received his master of business administration degree in finance from Eastern Michigan University (1977).
