A new proficiency testing program for plastic film testing is accepting enrollment for its September 2017 cycle through Sept. 22, 2017.

ASTM International, a global standards organization, launched the program in 2015 with technical support from its renowned committee on plastics (D20).

The program provides a statistical quality assurance tool that helps laboratories seeking to improve and maintain a high level of performance when conducting a variety of ASTM International test methods including:
·       Film Thickness,
·       Tensile properties,
·       Propagation tear resistance (pendulum),
·       Haze,
·       Dart drop impact,
·       Tear resistance, and more.

For each cycle, each laboratory will receive two rolls of film, each made of different materials. These rolls will be 12 in. wide with nominal 1 or 2-mil gauge and will contain 50 to 75 ft. of film to conduct the specified tests.
