ASTM International Committee D11 on Rubber recognized John A. Sezna, president of Rubber Testing Consultants in Akron, Ohio, in June with a Distinguished Service Award. The committee cited Sezna for his "over 29 years of dedicated and distinguished service to Committee D11 in the development and maintenance of international standards for the rubber industry and for outstanding leadership as chairman of Subcommittee D11.12 on Processability Tests.
Sezna lives in Akron, Ohio.
An ASTM International member since 1977, Sezna serves on numerous D11 subcommittees. In addition to ASTM International, Sezna is a member of the American Chemical Society and its Rubber Division, and the Akron Rubber Group.
Throughout his career Sezna has focused on rubber processability testing. After he completed his B.S. and M.S. in engineering science at the State University of New York, Buffalo, Sezna joined the DuPont Co. as a research engineer. He also held positions at Monsanto, Flexsys and Alpha Technologies before taking on his current role.
