John G. Banker, vice president of customers and technology at Dynamic Materials Corp., Boulder, Colo., has received the William J. Kroll Zirconium Medal from ASTM International Committee B10 on Reactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys.
Established by Committee B10 in 1975, the ASTM William J. Kroll Zirconium Medal recognizes outstanding achievement in the scientific, technological or commercial aspects of zirconium production and utilization, and encourages future efforts, studies and research.
A member of ASTM International since 1996, Banker serves as a member at large on Committee B10 and works on several subcommittees. He is also a member of Committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys.
Banker, who specializes in explosion metalworking, assumed his role at Dynamic Materials in 2000. Before that, he was president of Dynamic's Clad Metal Products Division, and held managerial and engineering positions at Explosive Fabricators and DuPont Detaclad before the companies merged to create DMC Clad Metal in 1996.
Outside ASTM International, Banker is a member of ASM International and the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). He holds a bachelor's degree in metallurgy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn.
