Janet Lloyd, vice president of laboratory services at United Power Services Inc. in Nashville, Tenn., is the new chairman of ASTM International Committee D27 on Electrical Insulating Liquids and Gases.

Committee D27 includes over 100 members that make up ten subcommittees. These technical experts oversee more than 50 ASTM International standards pertaining to electrical insulating liquids and gases, whether of synthetic or natural origin.

A member of ASTM International since 1997, Lloyd also chairs Subcommittee D27.05 on Electrical Test, and was D27 vice chairman from 2006 to 2012. The committee presented her with the Charles A. Johnson Award in 2011 for her dedication and contributions. Lloyd also served a term on the ASTM Committee on Standards (COS) from 2010 to 2012 and has been chairman of the ASTM Proficiency Testing Programs on Dissolved Gas Analysis and Insulating Fluid Quality since 2003.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn., Lloyd joined United Power Services as a laboratory technician in 1984. She was promoted to laboratory manager in 1986 and assumed the role of vice president in 1993.

Outside ASTM International, Lloyd is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
