ASTM International presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Richard Jack for his contributions to its water committee (D19).
The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Jack was recognized for his leadership of D19, which consisted of standards development, critical revisions to bylaws, and a revival of its long range planning subcommittee to provide for future membership.
An ASTM International member since 2007, Jack has previously been honored by the committee with the Special Achievement Award (2015) and the Standards Development Award (2017).
Jack most recently served as global market development manager - food and environmental at Phenomenex, a position he held after ten years at ThermoFisher Scientific. During this time, he was also formerly part of the EPA’s scientific advisory board for hydraulic fracturing. Jack received his doctoral degree in anaerobic microbiology and biochemistry from Virginia Tech.
