Registration is open for ASTM International’s 2026 Workshop on Hip Impingement Testing, to be held May 5, 2026, in Dallas, TX. The event is sponsored by ASTM International’s medical and surgical materials and devices committee (F04) and will be held in conjunction with the committee’s standards development meetings.
The hip impingement standard (F2582) provides a testing method that addresses multiple failure modes. However, its coordinate system presents challenges for consistent execution across different testing equipment. In response, several alternative approaches have been proposed.
This workshop aims to provide background on the development of the current standard, followed by presentations on these proposed methods. With all stakeholders informed and engaged, the ultimate goal is to assess whether the standard should be revised, and if so, determine the most appropriate path forward.
