The storage tank subcommittee of ASTM International’s environmental assessment, risk management, and corrective action committee (E50) is seeking participants to help revise two underground storage tank standards. 

The standards focus on performing evaluation of underground storage tank systems (UST) for operational conformance with federal regulations (E1990-16) and environmental management of UST systems storing hazardous substances or petroleum (E2681-13).  Both need updates in response to new regulations promulgated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

According to ASTM International member Patrick Rounds, the committee is interested in revising these standards so that best practices and concepts are updated and available for the UST community to use when determining how to comply with federal regulations.

These standards are used by public and private members of the regulated community. The committee is particularly interested in increasing participation of trained UST installation and service professionals.
