ASTM International’s building and environmental acoustics committee (E33) has presented its Wallace Waterfall Award to Robert Putnam.

The award recognizes Putnam’s distinguished contributions to the development, preparation, and acceptance of standards in acoustics.

An ASTM International member since 1976, Putnam had been previously honored by the committee with the Award of Appreciation (2013).

Putnam is currently retired, most recently working for Siemens Energy, Inc. until 2012. His career concentration is noise control and acoustics, specializing in community noise and power plant noise control. Throughout his career, he also worked for Gilbert Commonwealth Consulting, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and more.

In addition to ASTM, he’s a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), and the Acoustical Society of America. He graduated from Penn State University in 1967 with a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering.
