ASTM International Committee E07 on Nondestructive Testing has presented the Charles W. Briggs Award to Dr.-Ing. Klaus Bavendiek, director of development imaging at YXLON International GmbH in Hamburg, Germany, for his contributions to standards development. 

Bavendiek has been a member of ASTM International and Committee E07 since 2002 and contributes to several E07 subcommittees. The committee has presented him with four Awards of Appreciation.

A graduate of the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, where he earned a Dipl.-Ing. in electrical engineering and his Dr.-Ing. in aerospace technology, Bavendiek specializes in high-speed imaging, X-ray image acquisition and generation, aerospace technology, composites and new technologies. He joined YXLON International GmbH in 1998 as project group manager, and was promoted to director of system development and director of research and application development before assuming his current role in 2013.

Bavendiek is also a member of the German Society for Nondestructive Testing, which coordinates all NDT activities in Germany.
