Second-grade students from Conshohocken Elementary School in the Colonial School District recently showed their appreciation to ASTM International for its continued support of an after-school nature club. ASTM International, based in West Conshohocken, sponsors the program, which is presented by the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne.
As part of the program, instructors from Riverbend come to the school to teach a variety of nature lessons. On May 9, 25 students learned about predators and prey, including herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. The lessons include hands-on activities and games.
The students enthusiastically thanked ASTM International for its support of the club, which will continue next year when they are in the third grade. ASTM makes donations and sponsors several Riverbend-related learning activities each year for local area students, both at their schools and at the Riverbend Environmental Education Center.
In the photo, Conshohocken Elementary second graders present their thank you card to Tim Brooke, Vice President, Certification, Training and Proficiency Testing at ASTM International. The students are holding materials that were part of the May 9 Riverbend lesson.
