Brian E. Trimble, P.E., director of engineering services and architectural outreach for the Brick Industry Association in Reston, Va., has been honored with a 2005 ASTM International Award of Merit for his work on ASTM Committee C12 on Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry. The Award of Merit, which is accompanied by the title of fellow, is the highest Society award for individual contributions to standards activities.
Trimble resides in Seven Fields, Pa.
Chairman of Subcommittee C12.03 on Specifications for Mortars and co-chair of the 2006 Joint Masonry Symposium Committee, Trimble has been a long-time leader in C12 and a significant contributor to the work of developing new standards and updating them as needed. In addition, he is a member of Committees C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units, D01 on Paint and Related Coatings, Materials, and Applications, E05 on Fire Standards, E06 on Performance of Buildings, and F13 on Pedestrian/Walkway Safety and Footwear.
Trimble, who professionally focuses on masonry and structural design and masonry education, is the Middle Atlantic Region representative on the Construction Specifications Institute board of directors, and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council, and The Masonry Society. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa., with a bachelor's of architectural engineering degree.
