Laura Koss of Federal Trade Commission to Provide FTC Perspective

ASTM International Committee D13 on Textiles will sponsor a workshop, The Textile Industry and the Green Challenge: A Federal Trade Commission Perspective, on Tuesday Jan. 31, 2011, from Noon-1:30 p.m. EDT. The workshop will take place during the D13 standards development meetings, which will be held Jan. 30-Feb. 2 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Md.

The workshop will provide a forum for textile product manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and advertisers to learn from Laura Koss, senior attorney, Division of Enforcement, Bureau of Consumer Protection, U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Information will focus on ideas and insights about the FTC’s Green Guide and practices used to advertise textile products. The workshop will provide attendees with a better understanding about how the use of environmental technology needs to be incorporated in commerce so that consumers can be confident that what is being claimed is both truthful and substantiated.

The workshop will include the presentation from Laura Koss followed by a question and answer/information sharing session, and a boxed lunch. The workshop fee is $25 USD for ASTM members and $35 USD for non-ASTM members. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Pre-registration is required for this event. Click here to pre-register.
