David Fry, research and development engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, N.M., has received the Charles W. Briggs Award from ASTM International Committee E07 on Nondestructive Testing.

A member of ASTM International since 2005, Fry was honored for his continuous and outstanding contributions to the standards development work of E07 through its subcommittees, sections and task groups.

Fry joined Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1989 as a technical staff member, was promoted to supervisor/team leader in 1998, and assumed his current role in 2008. He works in the Lab’s Nondestructive Testing Group, Applied Engineering Technologies Division, where he is the senior engineer for production inspection processes. He holds a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio.

Outside ASTM International, Fry is a member of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing. He received 14 Awards of Excellence for his work with the Department of Energy Defense Program from 2000 to 2010.
