On Thursday, the Upper Merion Education Association recognized ASTM International with the Pepper Award at the Bridgeport Elementary School’s fourth-grade graduation ceremony in appreciation of ASTM’s role as a public education partner and promoter.

For example, for more than 20 years, ASTM International has sponsored field trips and other after-school programs for Bridgeport Elementary and other local elementary schools to the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania.  Riverbend is located near ASTM International’s global headquarters in West Conshohocken.

In addition, ASTM International recently donated funds for Bridgeport and each of the other Upper Merion School District elementary and middle schools to receive a “Dream Big” kit to inspire them to consider science and engineering as future careers.

This kit includes a full-length feature film of Dream Big: Engineering Our World and a teacher’s guide. The film, developed through the support of organizations like the American Society of Civil Engineers, is now being shown at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, another long-time local beneficiary of ASTM International’s philanthropic support.
