ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products, Liquid Fuels and Lubricants has presented the George V. Dyroff Award of Honorary Membership to consultant Roger Organ of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
The Dyroff Award is presented for outstanding achievement in the field of petroleum products and lubricants. D02 recognized Organ for his outstanding service to ASTM and the committee during his career. An active ASTM member for more than 35 years, Organ currently serves as a vice chairman of Subcommittee D02.J0 on Aviation Fuels. He is also the instructor of the ASTM Technical and Professional Training Program on Aviation Fuels.
Organ holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Newcastle University in England. A specialist in jet fuel manufacture and quality control, he has international experience with marketing fuels and lubricants throughout Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. He held various engineering roles during an accomplished 40+ years at Caltrex Petroleum Corp. (part of Chevron Corp.), including leading the product engineering departments in both Dallas, Texas, and Sydney, Australia, for several years. He most recently acted as an in-house technical consultant on new and emerging fuels at Chevron, and has been a freelance consultant since 2010.
In addition to ASTM, Organ is a member of the Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative, a cooperative effort among interested stakeholders to bring commercially viable, environmentally sustainable alternative aviation fuels to market.
