ASTM International’s soil and rock committee (D18) has presented the A. Ivan Johnson Outstanding Achievement Award to William Likos, Gary Wendt professor and department chair at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Likos was recognized for his significant contributions to committee D18. He has been previously recognized by ASTM International with the C.A. Hogentogler Award (2019).

Likos’s career focus is civil and environmental engineering, specifically geotechnical engineering. He joined the faculty of University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. In the year 2000, he graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a Ph.D. He is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
