Daniel Adams, professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Utah, was honored with the Wayne W. Stinchcomb Memorial Lecture and Award by ASTM International’s committee on composite materials (D30). 

The award recognizes outstanding contributions in research, engineering, or teaching the technology of composite materials and other contributions to the field of composites. Adams honor noted, in particular, his humanitarian contributions. 

Adams has been with the University of Utah since 1997, serving as an assistant professor and an associate professor until 2010, when he became a professor. He previously served as a lead engineer with the Hercules Aerospace Company and an assistant professor at Iowa State University.  

Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wyoming, a master’s degree in engineering mechanics, and a doctorate in engineering mechanics, both from Virginia Tech. 

In addition to ASTM International, Adams is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering and the American Society for Composites.
