ASTM International Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products has recognized the outstanding contributions of Sofya Solodkin, quality manager at Ausenco in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the Kenneth J. Boedecker Jr. Distinguished Service Award.
A member of ASTM International since 1995, Solodkin received a 15 Year Service Award from Committee A05 in 2012. In addition to her work with that committee, she also serves on A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys, C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems, F14 on Fences, F16 on Fasteners and G01 on Corrosion on Metals.
A registered professional engineer in British Columbia, Solodkin holds a master’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus. She has more than 20 years of experience in materials and industrial engineering and quality systems development. Prior to joining Ausenco, a provider of engineering, procurement, construction and management (EPCM) services to the mining and resources industry, in 2012, Solodkin was metallurgical engineer/quality systems manager at Tree Island Industries Ltd., Richmond, British Columbia.
Outside ASTM International Solodkin is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia and the Canadian Standards Association.
