ASTM International recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute for Standardization of Montenegro (ISME). The MOU was signed by Miodrag Perović, director, and James Thomas, president, ASTM.
“For us, this presents a significant step in expanding common goals with both international and regional national standards bodies,” says Rada Dondić, ISME’s international affairs officer. “Availability of ASTM standards will be sound ground for widening accomplishments and practices prescribed in standards and related documents.”
ISME was created in 2007, launching annual plans, programs and activities aimed at strengthening the Montenegrin standardization system.
Thomas says, “We are pleased to work with Montenegro to provide our standards as an effective and current technical resource to help develop Montenegrin standards that support health, safety, the environment and economic growth.”
The ASTM MOU program was launched in 2001 to promote communication between ASTM and national standards bodies worldwide, fostering awareness of the standardization systems of all parties involved. For more information, visit www.astm.org/GLOBAL.
