ASTM International and the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance the relationship between the professionals of the two organizations. Ayad Al-Hamoud, chairman of KSE, and Nick Ecart, ASTM director of business development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, signed the document at KSE headquarters in Kuwait City.

Supported by ASTM’s local partner in Kuwait, the National Consulting Bureau Co. (NCB), the agreement strengthens the link between the engineering community in Kuwait and the technical resources available through ASTM International. The 2014 agreement features a number of collaborative activities benefiting the members of both organizations.

Cooperative promotion, training, and upcoming meetings and events are highlighted in the agreement. In addition, KSE member organizations may receive preferential online access to the latest versions of ASTM standards. Further aspects of the agreement specify that ASTM will provide editorial content for inclusion in Al-Mohandesoon magazine, the official publication of the Kuwait Society of Engineers. Another key component of the cooperation involves the promotion of ASTM membership to KSE members.

With a large percentage of ASTM’s 30,000 members representing various branches of the engineering discipline, this agreement is important for both organizations. In addition, ASTM members come from 146 different countries — constituting a global network. Members may participate in any of the 145 technical committees that represent a variety of industry sectors ranging from metals to medical devices, and building construction to sustainability. Membership in ASTM International is open to all who have an interest.
