ASTM International Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems has honored Antonio Almeida, business development and client manager at Halff Associates Inc., Dallas, Texas, with the Frank W. Reinhart and Henry Butch Kuhlmann Award.

The award is presented annually to Committee F17 members and others for outstanding contributions to plastic piping standardization and exemplary technical achievement within the industry. Almeida was honored for his distinguished service and exceptional leadership as an ASTM F17 member for more than 32 years.

An ASTM fellow, Almeida received the Award of Merit, ASTM’s highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities, in 2001, and the F17 Paul Finn Memorial Award in 1996.

A licensed professional engineer in Texas, Almeida has more than 44 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. He worked in all phases of utility operations as a manager and deputy director at the Dallas Water Utilities Department for nearly 30 years before joining Halff Associates in 2000. At Halff, Almeida uses his extensive public sector experience to assist with quality assurance in water and wastewater quality.

Outside ASTM, Almeida is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University.
