Andrew G. Kireta Jr., vice president – market development at the Copper Development Association Inc., New York, New York, has received the ASTM International Copper Club Award.

ASTM Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys honored Kireta for his outstanding leadership, service and contributions. An ASTM member since 1998, he works on several B05 subcommittees and previously served as the committee’s membership secretary. Kireta is presently serving a term on the ASTM board of directors.

Kireta joined the Copper Development Association in 1992 as Midwest regional manager and held management positions for tube, pipe and fittings, and architectural applications before becoming vice president – building construction, in 2008. In his current role, which he assumed in 2010, he is responsible for promoting the use of copper and copper alloy systems and related products in both building construction and sustainable energy applications, and he coordinates codes and standards activities for the copper industry.

Outside ASTM International, Kireta is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, the American Society of Sanitary Engineering, the American Welding Society, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, the International Code Council, the NSF International Joint Committee on Drinking Water Additives and other industry organizations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.
