ASTM’s and are seeking participation in a new task group on hydrogen-based electrolyzers and fuel cells.
The group’s goal is to develop at least three new standard specifications: one on water needed for electrolyzers, and two on test methods for evaluating properties of separators/solid electrolytes/membranes for use in electrolyzers and fuel cells.
Gary Ganzi, subchair for ASTM D19.08, and Christina Daniels, subchair for D03.14, are overseeing the effort. According to Ganzi, the group’s ongoing activity will provide key guidance and drive quality for these industries through a time of rapid technological change.
“We believe the resulting work will be helpful to decision makers, developers, manufacturers, and end users, and ultimately accelerate improvements in product quality, reliability, cost, and applicability in this vital technological field,” says Ganzi.
The task group is seeking experts worldwide in all phases of production and use of hydrogen, as well as experts in membranes, ion exchange, and water treatment. The task group’s first meeting will take place the week of Dec. 2, 2024. For more information, contact Brian Milewski (info below).
