Peter J. Cook, technical services manager for IPEX Inc. in Verdun, Quebec, Canada, has been honored with the Frank W. Reinhart and Henry Kuhlmann Award. ASTM International Committee F17 on Plastic Piping Systems cited Cook's "faithful and significant contributions in furthering the cause of sound and effective plastics piping standardization as exemplified by Frank W. Reinhart and Henry W. Kuhlmann, charter members of Committee F17."

An ASTM International member since 1979, Cook serves as chair of Subcommittee F17.11 on Composite Piping. In addition to participating in the work of several F17 standards writing subcommittees, he also is a member of Committee F36 on Technology and Underground Utilities.

A recipient of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Award of Merit, Cook is chair of the CSA Plastic Non-Pressure Technical Committee, the Strategic Steering Committee for Plumbing Products, and two electrical conduit groups. He also is part of the Canadian National Plumbing Code Technical Committees and the Plastics Pipe Institute Hydrostatic Stress Board.

Cook represents his firm on ASTM International and CSA committees and at other standards organizations as part of his professional responsibilities; he also manages the Technical Services Department, which maintains the IPEX Quality Control Manual, and he is responsible for certification programs, customer service, and internal quality audits. In addition, Cook serves as the corporate ISO 9000 management representative.

Cook earned his B.Sc. in chemistry from Loyola College of the Université de Montreal in Montreal, Quebec.
