Yvon Millet, director of research and development for Europe at TIMET - Savoie in Ugine, France, has received the 2014 H.R. “Russ” Ogden Award from ASTM International. This annual award, presented by ASTM Committee B10 on Reactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys, honors outstanding accomplishments in the science and technology of reactive and refractory metals and alloys.
A specialist in the development of zirconium, titanium and hafnium alloys, Millet graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris (MINES Paris Tech) with a master’s degree in metallurgy in 1982. Following graduation, he spent a year working on deformation of exotic metals at Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique as part of his military duty. In 1983, he joined Cézus in Ugine, France, as research and development engineer, and was later promoted to development engineer and then project manager. He became director of quality and technology at TIMET - Savoie in 2001 and assumed his current role in 2009.
Millet is a member of ASM International, the Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France and the Société Française de Métallurgie et de Matériaux.
