Larry Meyers, principal at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc. in Chicago, Illinois, has received the Award of Merit from ASTM International Committee D08 on Roofing.

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities. Committee D08 noted the outstanding leadership and dedication of Meyers in the development of ASTM roofing and waterproofing standards.

An ASTM member since 1988, Meyers chairs Subcommittee D08.24 on Sustainability and is the longtime secretary of D08.01 on Nomenclature, Definitions and Editorial. He previously served the main committee as membership and recording secretary for 10 years, contributing greatly to establishing the committee’s long-range plan. He has been recognized with the D08 Award of Appreciation twice for his efforts. Meyers also works on Committees E06 on Performance of Buildings and E60 on Sustainability.

Meyers holds bachelor’s degrees in architectural design and structural engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He joined Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, where he specializes in roofing and waterproofing systems for buildings and other structures, in 1987 as an architect/engineer II. He has been promoted several times since, assuming the role of principal in 2000.

A registered architect, structural engineer and professional engineer in Illinois. Meyers is a member of the Association of Licensed Architects, the Illinois Architect-Engineer Council, the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations, NSF International’s Committee on Roofing, the Roof Consultants Institute and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.
