Dru Meadows, principal at theGreenTeam Inc. in Tulsa, Okla., has received the Award of Merit from ASTM International Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings. The committee honored Meadows for her outstanding efforts in pioneering ASTM standards for sustainability in buildings. The Award of Merit is the highest ASTM recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.
An ASTM International member since 1994, Meadows serves on several E06 subcommittees and is chair of Subcommittees E06.71 on Sustainability and E06.92.17 on ISO/TC59/SC17 - US TAG. She is also a member of Committees D22 on Air Quality; E47 on Biological Effects and Environmental Fate; E50 on Environmental Assessment, Risk Management and Corrective Action; E53 on Property Management Systems; and E54 on Homeland Security Applications.
In 2007, Meadows was awarded third prize in the ASTM International Advantage Award paper competition for her submission, "ASTM Standard Breaks Barriers to Global Sustainable Development." She was also the recipient of an Award of Appreciation from Committee E06 in 2002.
A licensed architect and certified construction specifier, Meadows has over 20 years of professional experience. She has been with theGreenTeam Inc., a strategic environmental consulting firm specializing in building industry issues and sustainable development, since 1998. Meadows provides consultation for new product development and for building programs on environmentally-sensitive, sustainable design and construction in the field of "green building."
In addition to ASTM International, Meadows is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Construction Specifications Institute, Green Building Initiative, Habitat for Humanity, the International Organization for Standardization, the Oklahoma Recycling Association, Oklahoma State University Environmental Institute, Production Emission Testing Laboratory and the U.S. Green Building Council.
