b. Numbers
c. Dates
3. Is the element mandatory or conditional and, if conditional, what are the conditions under which it becomes mandatory?
4. If the value contained in the element is based on an outside reference source such as UNLOADCODE or SCAC
a. IF yes, then what is the outside reference point.
iii. Will the element repeat over the course of the shipment information set or is it unique.
b. Ensuring that any data elements outlined in the specification matches the basic requirements of major Customs agencies and Air or Ocean carriers’ data exchanges.
c. Ensuring that the data elements outlined in the standard are transportation mode agnostic and applicable to all forms of transport including but not limited to:
i. Ocean Containerize Transport both Full Container Load and Less-than-Container Load
ii. Air Transport
iii. Truck Transport
iv. Rail Transport

There is a global call for the development of a data standard covering the international transport of cargo in order to create greater efficiencies in port terminals around the world and a more robust and reliable supply chain overall.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
