ASTM D35-93 has intentionally refrained from ballot terms for functions of geosynthetics. However, with the creation of Subcommittee D35.06 on Specifications, Subcommittee D35.93 needs to support these efforts by providing terms describing the current functions of geosynthetics. The International community and experts have worked over the years in terms that are now commonly used worldwide to define some of those functions of geosynthetics. However, critical for the international community is to have definitions of accepted functions under the rigorous process of healthy discussion, balloting, and publication. This ballot intends to adopt the term approved and adopted by ISO TC221 WG02 (ISO 10318-1:2015) to allow users to have a single definition of the function. Please remember that it is critical for the geosynthetic community to have standardized terminology between ASTM and ISO.
