New Classification for Classification for Distilled Cannabinoid Extracts of a Cannabis Plant

1. Scope

This standard shall establish a fit-for-purpose classification system for distilled phytocannabinoid extracts of the cannabis plant. This standard shall apply to all types of distilled phytocannabinoid extracts regardless of the type of cannabis plant from which they were derived.

Keywords

Cannabis; hemp; industrial hemp; marijuana; hash; hashish; extract; concentrate; extraction; distillation; hydrocarbon; separation; distillate; isolate; THC; free; CBD; broad spectrum; full spectrum; cannabis resin; distillate; extract; extraction; inhalation; ingredient; Grade A distillate; Grade B distillate; Grade C distillate

Rationale

Distilled phytocannabinoid extracts of the cannabis plant, referred to as distillates in the marketplace, are currently being bought and sold without any metric for verifying product quality. For a commodity marketplace for cannabis/hemp distillates to develop, a standardized set of quality attributes needs to be defined.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
