New Test Method for Evaluating the Oxidative Resistance of Polypropylene (PP) Piping Systems to Hot Chlorinated Water

1. Scope

The development of specifications for plastic pipe, fittings, and appurtenances; practices for joining and installing plastic pipes; test methods; terminology, systems and services specific to plastic piping systems and the stimulation of related research.
The work of the Committee may include the consideration of composite piping systems, and components which are partially plastic.
The work of the Committee will be coordinated with ASTM Committee and other organizations having mutual interests.

Rationale

The current product standard refers to a test method used for PEX and PE-RT. Previous ballots resulted in negatives suggesting PP should have its own standard.
