University Students Receive ASTM International Project Grants

ASTM International has awarded five $500 grants to university students to assist them with senior or graduate design projects that contain an ASTM International standards component. The winners' final papers will be posted on the ASTM website. The 2014 project grant winners are:

Daniel Berger, California Polytechnic State University, "Use of Bamboo in Place of Steel Reinforcement in CMU Walls for Out of Plane Loading";
Anthony Lemus, Widener University, Chester, Pa., "Comparison of Dry Pack and Overpour Methods for Foundation Underpinning";
Luis Cavaco-Cruz, University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal, "Handbook of Technical Portuguese";
Gopi Bylapudi, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill., "Stress Corrosion Testing of ASTM A615 Grade 60 Steel in Simulated Underground Coal Mine Atmosphere"; and
Juan Pablo Gevaudan, University of Colorado, Denver, Colo., "Characterization of Pollutant Removal Mechanisms of Geopolymer Pervious Concrete for Sustainable Pavement Applications."

The project grant program is being continued this year. The deadline for 2015 project grants is Oct. 31, 2015. For more information, go here.
